Prosperity, Power, and Progress
September 15 – October 15, 2023
Each year across the U.S., people observe National Hispanic Heritage Month by celebrating the rich histories, art, stories and cultural contributions of those whose ancestry can be traced back to Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. The month begins September 15 because that is the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September 18.
Throughout Hispanic Heritage Month, UTSA will showcase community leaders, faculty, staff and students around significant themes in Latinx culture. During these challenging times with the ongoing pandemic, racial unrest and political divide, UTSA’s celebration will focus on hope and resilience mirroring the national theme for this year. Roadrunners will celebrate the month with this guiding theme: “Prosperity, Power, and Progress”.
