Singer Halsey reveals health issues
Halsey is opening up about her health struggles after releasing her new song “The End” from her upcoming album of the same name. The 29-year-old singer, whose real name is Ashley Frangipane, revealed that she was diagnosed in 2022 with Lupus SLE and then a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder. Lupus SLE is an autoimmune disease that can cause the immune system to attack healthy tissue and T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder relates to bone marrow cell production, according to the National Institutes of Health. Halsey, the voice of hits “Without Me,” “Eastside” (with Benny Blanco) and “Closer” (with the Chainsmokers), said both issues are currently being managed or in remission, but told fans they will affect her for the rest of her life. “After a rocky start, I slowly got everything under control with the help of amazing doctors,” she added. “After 2 years, I’m feeling better and I’m more grateful than ever to have music to return to… I can’t wait to get back where I belong: With you all, singing and screaming my heart out.”
New ‘Hunger Games’ book
Suzanne Collins has written a new book in “The Hunger Games” series, Scholastic announced Thursday. “Sunrise on the Reaping,” the fifth novel about the dystopian world of Panem, will focus on the 50th Hunger Games (which Woody Harrelson’s character Haymitch won), 24 years before the original story and 40 years after the most recent book (and movie), “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.” Collins said she was inspired by Scottish Enlightenment philosopher David Hume’s idea of “implicit submission” and dove deep into “the use of propaganda and the power of those who control the narrative. The question ‘Real or not real?’ seems more pressing to me every day.” The first four “Hunger Games” books have sold more than 100 million copies and have all been adapted into blockbuster films, starring Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen and most recently Tom Blyth as a young President Snow.
