Big changes are taking place in how we live—and what we look for in the place we call home. From remote work options to the pull of wide open spaces and simpler lives, families, couples, and singles alike are looking away from major metropolitan areas and towards small towns. But where to go? How? When? There’s a lot to consider when you’re thinking about moving to a small town—or just daydreaming about doing so.
I moved back to a small town in Mississippi nineteen years ago and haven’t looked back since. Over those years, I’ve seen its ebbs and flows. I decided to pull back the curtain and answer some of the hard questions while highlighting the idealistic side of small-town living in the process. My third book, Small Town Living, is finally available for preorder! It is part coffee table book, part storytelling, and part travel book.
This book explores how to find the town you are meant to move to by way of 22 creatives who have moved from a big city to a small town, sharing all the ups and downs of such a move. There are also so many fun lists highlighting different subjects for many types of readers, like small-town bookstores, towns near the water, or places where culture is celebrated. There are ideas for forging your own creative life (however you define as creative) in a small town, ideas to enrich your small town, and more…
