IRON MOUNTAIN — Olympic gold-medal-winning snowboarder Nick Baumgartner will appear at the Art for All event Saturday at City Park in Iron Mountain to promote his recent book.
The annual “An Affair of the Arts” event, sponsored by the Dickinson County Council for the Arts, will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

About a month after the Bates Township native won his long-sought-after gold with Lindsey Jacobellis in the mixed team snowboard cross — he’d been in three Olympics before the 2022 games in Zhangjiakou, China — his public relations team contacted sports agent Carrie Goldberg Trutanich of Hermosa Beach, Calif., to see if there was interest in a book about Baumgartner’s story.
Baumgartner teamed with Detroit Free Press sports columnist Jeff Seidel to bring his life story to the public. It was published by Triumph Books of Chicago and released Jan. 9.
It contains snowboarding stories, fishing stories, surfing stories, hardship stories of sacrifices necessary to excel, light-hearted stories about his family. The book is meant to appeal to all, from the world famous to the small-town kid in the U.P.
Baumgartner has been busy promoting his book and speaking across the country.
The juried art show will have a vast array of art for sale, featuring original paintings, photography, glass, wood, fiber, metal and jewelry.
There will also be live entertainment throughout the afternoon.
A “better than ever picnic” will be provided by the Bishop Baraga Knights of Columbus.
A silent auction provides funds for an area senior art student.
Those attending can win $50 to be spent at the art show, with drawings at 11 a.m. and 1 and 2 p.m.
The community is encouraged to come and view the work of local and regional artists.
