The Nebraska Center for the Book is inviting young people to write a letter to their favorite author, whether dead or alive, for a statewide contest.The Nebraska Letters about Literature contest asks kids in Grades 4 through 12 to write a letter to an author of any genre, dead or alive, to explain how that author has changed their viewpoints of the world.Submissions can be done online start Oct. 1 through Dec. 31.The letters will be judged by a panel and a winner and an honorable mention will be selected from each of the following levels.Level I – Grades 4 – 6Level II – Grades 7 – 8Level III – Grades 9 -12A proclamation-signing ceremony at the state capitol will take place to honor the winners during National Library Week in April 2024.
