Determination was the key to the writer putting out her debut novel
‘I’d been threatening to write a novel for a long time,” says Fiona McPhillips of her debut, When We Were Silent, “but you know, life, and kids, all those things that happen to most women.”
McPhillips is now 54 and her kids are 20, 15 and 14. Does she remember a specific moment that made her realise the time had come to start doing this?
